Settling Sucks

Listening to her story was painful. She had the package: the skills, the looks, and the drive. That was then, this is now. Her dream took place in a world that most of her friends would not recognize. Twenty-years have passed, the dream is gone. The agony is lessened with alcohol. “Why?” she asked, “Why didn’t I do something while there was still time?” “Time,” I said. “As long as you are breathing you still have time.” She lowered her head and ordered another drink. Living in a life of what could have been, versus what can be, really does suck.
