In Seth Godin's wonderful book "Tribes", he asked us to lead. I stumbled on this Emerson quote the other night and was reminded that if we accept Mr. Godin's challenge, clarity in one's destination will create a speedy following. However, if you communicate vagueness in today's world, I'm afraid you’ll find yourself as a leader of one.
I talk to many that know more about what they DON'T want versus what they DO want. Although, the person in this drawing will not change the world with his goals, at least he knows what he wants, which is more than most people.
Arriving somewhere and realizing you screwed up sucks. Make sure you are working on your dreams, because there's only so much sand in your hourglass. Pouring your sand out on someone else's dream and not having enough left for yours, would REALLY suck.
